Cloud Detection: ASI-16
The ASI-16 All Sky (Total Sky) Imager is an automatic full sky camera system with 180° field of view.
It provides high resolution images, both as pre-scheduled network stored JPGs and as video life stream.
Environment temperature and humidity are captured and stored with images and in datalogger-like files.
Double shielding, forced ventilation and strong heating ensures operation in any harsh environment.
In combination with CMS Cloud Analysis Software the system provides a variety of valuable numeric data.
Networking: Ethernet LAN adapter, TCP/IP, power via H-PoE, web-based user interface, password protected secure access.
Applications: remote sensing, weather and cloud observations, CloudBaseHeigh, atmospheric research applications, supervision systems, aircraft based observation systems.

All Sky Imager temperature stress test- news 20160619:
The All Sky Imager was on standard operational mode before starting the test in the temperature test chamber. Test cycles lasts over 4 days.
The ASI was successfully tested under "Temperature stress scenario" between TENV = -35°C and TENV = +56°C.
In total 10 stress cycles were carried out within 4 days. The system was running under
all tested environmental situations without loss of image data.
All Sky Imager temperature range measurement- news 20160615:
The All Sky Imager was put into the temperature test chamber. System was on standard operational mode (temperature regulation activated, 2 images @ 5 minutes) before starting cooling down the environment.
The ASI was successfully tested under "Extended Temperature Range" between -40°C to +56°C, with a measurement and climate chamber control tolerance of ±3 °C.
Cloud Detection & Cloud Base Height Software
Software to classify the clear sky, total hemispheric cloud cover, optically thick and thin clouds, cloud cover
of the free horizon and/or cloud cover above an artificial horizon.
If the natural horizon is not known, an easy-to-use tool allows to define it by drag-and-drop. The presence of direct sun is detected.
All analyzed data are stored, including false color pictures for additional investigations.
The Cloud Base Height software offers the possibility to evaluate cloud heights in real time. It uses the time synchronized images of two sky imagers, and the locale data (latitude, longitude and elevation) stored with each individual CMS imager file.
Cloud Speed and direction of movement of the cloud will also be available in the next release.

Cloud camera: VIS-J1006
This product is discontinued by 1st July 2016. It is only available while the present stock lasts. ASI-16 is the next generation with modern electronics.
The camera VIS-J1006 is an automatic imaging system. It provides real-time coloured images of the total sky (180° field of view). Cloud cover is calculated by the software VIS-J1006-FINDCLOUDS which allows also reprocessing of stored data.
An on board computer controls the system. It is possible to use the system as standalone (8 GB internal non volatile memory) or remote controlled detection system via TCP/IP network.
A glass dome protects the optic in a weather proof housing against environmental effects.
Field of Application: remote sensing, weather and cloud observations, atmospheric research applications, supervision systems, aircraft based observation systems.
Cloud camera software update - news 20160930:
It is recommended to install the latest software version 'Cloudcam_Control 3.4.4.1' including 'Cloudcam_Server 4.5' on your system.
In comparison to 'Cloudcam_Control 3.0', it can prevent the Cloud Camera from beeing damaged by sudden power off, is more
reliable and offers additional features. Donwload the Cloudcam update from the link below and start the installation.
Cloud camera temperature range measurement- news 20140909:
The Cloud Camera was put into the temperature test chamber. System was on operational mode before starting cooling down the environment.
Test cycles were started at an environmental temperature of +40°C. Lowest temperature test cycle was set to -40°C. The device under
test was running under operational modus (1 image @ 10 minutes) for about 48 hours at each cycle.
The Cloud Camera was successfully tested for operation under "Extended Temperature Range", starting at +40°C down to -40°C, with
a measurement and climate chamber control tolerance of ±3 °C.
Historical review developement of the Cloud camera 2004-2015:
The first Cloud Camera was put into operation at beginning of 2004. It was designed for scientific investigations and includs a rotating shadow band to protect
the sensor chip against saturation.
VIS-J1006-SunScreen
The sun screen protects the housing of the Total Sky Imager VIS-J1006 against thermal heating effects (direct radiation from the sun).
VIS-J1006-VentilationUnit
The ventilation unit is designed for use with the Total Sky Imager. It prevents the deposit of dust and dew on the optical system and protects the housing against thermal heating effects (direct radiation from the sun).
